Sage for my Sisters Origin Story
If you’re someone who’s known me intimately over the past 25 years you’ve likely heard me mention my vision for Sage for my Sisters, at least once, if not a thousand times. Some probably wondered when I would stop talking about it and finally just go for it. I myself wondered many times and I honestly allowed her to fully die and be reborn over and over.
What began as a prayer “Sage for my Sister” in 2008, wrapping sage bundles from desert sage gathered on my Sister Heidi’s land, in Utah’s beautiful Oquirrh Mountains, in hope of both raising money and miracles to prevent her from losing her home, metamorphosed into the guiding vision for my life path. I took those sage bundles back to North Carolina, where I lived at the time, made a flyer with my prayer “Sage for my Sister” to save my sisters home. I displayed them at my dear friend Lila’s Yoga Studio “Gateway” and began accepting donations for the beautifully wrapped sage bundles and offering Heart - Centered Meditation classes, in hope of raising more money and miracles. In all honesty, I don’t remember raising much money, but since my sister and her family still reside in that home nearly 25 years later, I stand to believe in miracles and the power of prayer and intention.
Sage for my Sister evolved into “Sisters” out of my deep calling to support women through their own transformational and transitional journeys. The vision for this work has taken on many forms over the past 25 years. I myself have had to answer many different callings and initiations, many births and many deaths to get here. I’ve spent the 18 months distilling my life’s work, passion and practices into an offering that feels truly authentic to who I am. It’s been both a brutal and beautiful journey through which I’ve learned so much about who I really am and how I move through the world. I claim no mastery, only years of lived experience in countless transitional containers.
